Well we had a busy and mostly fussy 1st Christmas with Sage. For some reason she picked last week to be anti-sleep, anti-solid eating, anti-pooping, and all around anti-good mood. We still had a wonderful Christmas and here are some pictures to prove it:
Sage is six months old today, and doing much better than last week. I don’t know what got into that girl. We don’t go to her check up until next week, so I will update you on all her stats when I get them. Also, my amazing husband gave me an awesome new camera for Christmas so I plan on doing some 6 months old photo shoots in the next couple of days, pictures coming soon!
Our favorite Christmas song this year (By Todd Agnew).
We had a surprise visit from Nana and Papa this weekend! It was a quick trip but they got to love on Sage and even babysat while Cody and I went on a date and got some shopping done. This was the first time that someone other than Cody or I has put Sage to bed. I kind of missed her while we were out, but I was very proud of Nana and Papa for getting her to bed all by themselves! Here are a few pics:
Every year one of my favorite things about the holiday season is Christmas music. I love listening to it, singing it, and generally enjoying it as long as possible. I love that in our crooked and depraved generation, this one time of year people sing and know songs about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ being born. And what an amazing thing it was for Jesus to come as a little baby to this fallen world. So…as I was rocking sage to sleep the other day I was trying to sing her Christmas songs and not remembering all the words, so I broke out the hymnal and was refreshed at what I found. Here are my (not always remembered) favorite verses from popular Christmas Songs:
Away in a Manger:
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to live with thee there.
Silent Night, Holy Night:
Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth, Jesus, Lord at thy birth.
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel:
O come Thou Wisdom from on high
And order all things, far and nigh;
To us the path of knowledge show
And cause us in her ways to go.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel,
Shall come to thee, O Israel!
O Come, All Ye Faithful:
Sing, choirs of angels; sing in exultation;
O sing, all ye bright hosts of heav’n above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest!
O come, let us adore Him! O come let us adore Him!
O come, let us adore Him! Christ the Lord!
O Holy Night! (my favorite Christmas song of all time)
O holy night! the stars are brightly shining, it is the night of our dear Savior’s birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining, Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope- the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!
Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born!
Led by light of faith serenely beaming, With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming, Here came the Wise Men from Orient land.
The King of kings lay this in lowly manger, In all our trials born to be our Friend.
He knows our need- to our weakness is no stranger. Behold your King, before Him lowly bend!
What is your favorite Christmas song (and why)?
It is finally getting cooler and my new favorite thing to dress Sage up in is cute tights! Here are a couple of pictures from this week of our little fashionista:
This picture is from this week when Sage was extra smiley, so I had to take some pictures! She is still loving grabbing her feet and sticking them in her mouth or just playing with them. She also loves it when we put her on a bed and bounce it a little underneath her – she laughs so hard it is the cutest thing!
Yesterday Sage turned 5 months old! I tried to weigh and measure her this morning and got 17.5 lbs. (I was able to set her on the scale all by herself for the first time) and 26.25 inches long. She is growing so fast! Here are some highlights from her 5th month:
This month Sage rolled over from front to back for the first time and a few times after that, (she still is not proficient at it). She still hates to be on her tummy, so unless she rolls over right away she just cries and fusses until we help her roll over. She is almost getting rolling over back to front, although once she does it, she may not like the results. Here is a good picture of her not fussing on her Tummy:
Sage has also been trying new foods this month. I changed her breakfast cereal to oatmeal with apple and banana fruit flakes in it, which she seems to love. We went to solids for two meals a day last week and Sage even tried some new foods at her evening meal including sweet potatoes and green beans. Just in time for Thanksgiving!
Sage has also been quite the traveler this month! She made it out to Royse City earlier this month to see one of my teacher friends who had twins in late October. They were so tiny and cute! We also made it out to Comanche where Sage got to hang out with her great grandmother Gigi the week of Thanksgiving. All Comanche pics here.
After Comanche we made it to Tyler for a quick visit including an amazing pre-Thanksgiving dinner with Nana and Papa and my Nannie. All Tyler pics here.
Henderson was our final Thanksgiving destination to see all of Cody’s Dad’s side of the family. Sage got to meet lots of new family and even spit up on Aunt Sue – sorry Aunt Sue! We had lots of fun and ate LOTS of great food. All Henderson pics here.
This past weekend we brought Sage to Coppell to see Scott and Jenny and Grant and Jill. We all watched Tech beat Baylor, (whew!) and had a great time. Scott and Grant are Cody’s best friends from high school. Jenny and Jill are both pregnant with boys due a few days apart from each other! We got a shot of Sage standing up without our help, but leaning against the ottoman. She can support her weight really well.
This month Sage has been spitting up a lot less, which is awesome! She has also figured out how to sit up on her own for short amounts of time and is napping much better during the day. I think we are finally getting to a semi-regular schedule. She is now big enough for the exersaucer which she LOVES playing with. Sage also found her feet last week. She loves to grab them and play with them and sometimes stick them in her mouth.
She is so much fun to hang out with every day and I am super blessed to be able to stay at home with her.
