Howdy! See what’s going on with the Dixon Family

A LOT

Comments

So…I have not posted on the blog in a LONG time, and a lot has been going on. Since, I posed last,

We decided on a name for our little turtle! After going back and forth several times…LOGAN JAMES is what our little boy will be called.

We put house house on the market, got a contract on it, and are waiting to close in a couple weeks! Bye bye first house.

We have been looking for the perfect house to buy and after two contracts on two houses fell through, we have a contract on a house to buy!

We took Sage to the Texas State Fair for the first time, (my first time too). We saw a dog show, went to a petting zoo, and a car show. We saw “Big Tex” and ate some awesome fair food!

We celebrated cousin Avery’s 2nd birthday! She has a petting zoo and horse rides in the back yard!

Sage dressed up as a cute little ladybug  for Halloween and went trick or treating with her cousins.

Sage turned SEVENTEEN months old today. I can’t believe she is a month away from being a year and a half old. She is quite the handful, getting into everything. She loves coloring, horses, Elmo, and playing outside, when the weather permits. Here she is practicing to be a big sister:

Cody has had to travel for work several weeks recently. Boo!

We joined a local Mom’s Club and love going to all kinds of activities and meeting new friends. Our first outing was a trip to the Dallas Zoo!

I am starting my third trimester and Logan is kicking the tar out of me. I thought Sage was very active, but it wasn’t as much as this boy. I have a sonogram next week to check his size and developmental progress.

We have tentatively scheduled Logan’s C-Section date for Feb. 19th! Less than three months away!!

I saw New Moon opening weekend. It was SO good!! In my opinion, much better than Twilight.

Sage’s favorite spot to get into is our bathroom cabinets, thankfully she won’t need those for a while!

We traveled to Henderson on Thanksgiving to see Cody’s Dad’s side of the family. We stopped to see Nana and Papa on the way. Loved getting to see all of our family!

The Turtle

Comments

DSC_0229

Here is the latest picture of our baby boy! The mouse cursor is pointing at the “turtle sticking his head out” as the sonogram tech put it, so we are “99.9% sure” we are having a baby boy! All his organs were normal looking and working as they should be at this point and his estimated weight was 9 oz. – 50th percentile. His head measured right on track, his tummy was a little smaller than average and his femur bone measured a little above average. Now, if we could only decide on a name!!

15 things about my 15 mo. old:

1. At Sage’s 15 mo. well child visit today the doctor and nurse both kept commenting on how tall she was. She landed in the 95th percentile at 32 1/2 in. for height!

2. She was 75th percentile for weight at 24 lbs. 5 oz. and her head was 45 cm – only 25% !? this one worries me a little.

3.She finally figured out how to open highlighters:

DSC_0236

4. She got her first flu shot today. I wasn’t 100% sure about getting it, but she did get the flu last winter and it was pretty miserable, so I decided to go ahead with it this year.

5. She is a picky eater. Both in the sense that she really doesn’t eat a whole lot, amount wise, and she is picky about what she will eat period. I have to sneak any and all veggies into macaroni and cheese or something comparable.  Doc said not to worry about it.

6. She LOVES books – she has lots of them and is always bringing them to us and asking us to “bead” them to her.

7. Two of her favorites are 5 Little Monsters (like 5 little monkeys), and a Noah’s Ark book.

8. When you ask her to dance it is hilarious!!  video forthcoming

9. She is doing really well at MDO one day a week. I was a little worried at first, but she is having a great time and so am I!

10. She got the colorful “big girl” bedding and we are trying to decide what color to paint the walls right now.

DSC_0249

11. She loves animals. In books, in Baby Einstein movies, and sometimes in real life…unless they are too big and coming towards her.

12.She has turned into a chatter box, saying things like hi, bye, mama, dada, papa, nana, happy, no, tree, eye, ear, “nee” for nose and knee, door, baby, bee, “peas” for please, “ba” for ball, as well as making lots of animal sounds – sheep, cow, cat, mouse, owl, dog, elephant, snake, monkey, and chicken. A lot of these she is just been learning in the past couple weeks, it’s hard to keep up. It is so amazing to see her learning so much and soaking in everything around her.

13. She has been randomly doing the sign for daddy(which I didn’t teacher her – i think she learned it at wee school) and saying dada a lot lately – she loves her daddy!

14. She knows no stranger – she is always trying to tell random people hi and bye when we are out shopping.

15. She loves, loves, loves to be outdoors. I think she would spend all day outside if we’d let her. She always grabs my hand and pulls me toward the door to go out. Speaking of outdoors – we did get a few good shots at the Arboretum this past Monday:

Photography Lesson

Comments

So…photographing a toddler turns out to be a lot more difficult than plopping a four month old down between two pumpkins and snapping the shot. We went to the Dallas Arboretum this past Monday for Mommy and Me day and the Pumpkin Patch. Most of my pictures turned out like this…

turns out moving targets are harder to photograph than still ones…

at least the pumpkins are pretty…

We did get some good pictures but I am going to wait until tomorrow to post them. Sage turns 15 mo. old tomorrow, so I will be back with her doctor visit stats and some semi-decent pictures of her at the arboretum!

Cookie’s Wedding

Comments
Congratulations Beth and Jeff!

Congratulations Beth and Jeff!

Last weekend we headed to Comanche to be at Cookie’s (Cody’s mom’s) wedding! It was a great time, and the kids were oh so cute! Sage and cousin Avery were flower girls and cousin Aidan was the ring bearer, although he was much more interested in the flower baskets and managed to throw a few flower petals too.  We are very happy for Beth and Jeff and pray for them as they begin their lives together. Here are some pictures from the wedding:

Option 3

With the new baby coming, Sage is going to have to move into a “big girl” bed sooner than expected. I’ve narrowed bedding  down to these three options and I really like each one for different reasons, so I need help deciding! I would love to hear which one you like best! Thanks for the input.

First Day of School

Eating a little breakfast before Wee School

Sage had her first day of Wee School – aka mother’s day out  today.  When we got there she ran right into her room and got distracted with all the new things to play with, so we left really fast, and she didn’t even cry. When I went to pick her up, her teacher said that she did really good and even napped for 45 min, which I was shocked by. She is usually a pretty finicky sleeper when she is not in her own crib, so that was awesome! For now she is going one day a week, but when the baby comes, we plan on letting her go two days a week to give me and baby dixon #2 some bonding time.

Here is a picture she “colored” today at Wee School:

14 Months Old!

Comments

Our sweet little girl is 14 months old today! I can’t believe that she is growing up so fast right before our eyes. She has been getting into everything, and keeping me super busy chasing after her which is the reason for a lot less blog posting lately.  One big even we have coming up is Cody’s mom’s wedding September  12th! Sage is going to be a flower girl along with her cousin Avery. We got the dresses we ordered this week and had the girls try them on together Friday – SO CUTE!! Sage’s is way too long so I may have to get it hemmed or try to pin it up some how. We are very excited for Cookie and her big day coming up!!

Well, it looks like after three months of having only 3 teeth, we have another one poking through! This time on the top – I will try and get a picture of it up on here soon. Sage has been going through a get up in the middle of the night phase this past week and I am hoping it was just this tooth bothering her and now that it is through, she will get back to her normal nighttime sleep. This morning she woke up at 5:30 for some reason and went right back to sleep after I changed her diaper and rocked her for a minute – then she slept all the way until it was time for church. We had to wake her up at 8:50 to get her dressed and go!

We’ve had a fairly quiet couple of weeks, trying to stay cool inside in this hot weather. We are looking forward to a few of cooler days this week!  Here are some pictures from the last couple weeks:
